UNCONDITIONAL PARENTING

Allikas: EMPAATIA.ee

"If you plan for a year - plant rice; if you plan for 10 years - plant a tree; if you plan for 100 years - take care for children." Chinese proverb

Parenting is a "profession" that is highly challenging as well as rewarding. Parenting is also a political issue - by taking care for our children - we are planting the seeds for the future!

Because we might be very often overwhelmed by the countless prosaic pressures of family life it might be difficult to keep on sight our long term goal - what do we want our children to be like once they are grown?

And to ask ourself - are our everyday actions and reactions supporting our children to grow into the kind of people we like them to be?

In order to support parents, caretakers, kindergarten teachers and their teachers in their work I have created a series of trainings called "UNCONDITIONAL PARENTING".

My gratitude to M.B.Rosenberg, S.Hart, V.K.Hodson, L.Larsson, K.Rung, I.Kashtan and A.Kohn - who has been my inspiration in this work.

[redigeeri] Why does Merike do this?

Merike offers this seminar with intention to meet her needs for:

  • contributing – give my time, energy, skills and knowledge to create more harmonious atmosphere in families – promote understanding and loving relationships between parents and children;
  • sharing – share my dreams, values, believes, inspiration with participants;
  • supporting – parents in this difficult „job“ called „parenting“, offer skills and perspectives that could be more fullfilling for both – children and parents;
  • inspiration – to share „my story“ and how this has changed my life, to be a model demonstrating that there is another way – way to creat loving and respecting relationships in family.

[redigeeri] To whom?

Parents, caretakers, kindergarte teachers’ and teachers’ teachers, all those who work with people we call „children“.

[redigeeri] What possibilities are available when participating?

In this seminar will be offered possibilities:

  • To remind for parents and caretakers and/or to see their long term vision in parenting;
  • To gain clarity which our actions are helping to move towards this vision and which are preventing reaching that;
  • To get introduced by „tools“ that would help to create and maintaine relationships that you truly want in your family/kindergarten;
  • To figure out why and how are rewards as destroying as punishments!
  • And much more...

[redigeeri] Initial structure of seminar

Proposal is to do it as two-days seminar, (there are many other options also available according to participants needs and mutual agreements):

Day 1

Session I – Clearing the vision of parenting.

Session II – Clarifying our current „position“ – discovering own beliefs, habitual ways of reactions etc.

Session III – Introducing tools that help us to go where we want to!

Session IV – Creating room inside ourselves!

Day 2

Session V – Listening to the child with open heart & mind!

Session VI – Hearing „no“ as an invitation to dialogue.

Session VII – Rewards’ and punishments’ destroying power and what to do to replace them!

Session VIII – Questions and answers. Directions for „homework“. Conclusion.

NB! This seminar is practical and experiential – to get out most of it - requires participants’ active involvment!

NB! NB! This seminar is meant to be as an introduction to the topic „Unconditional Parenting“. If there will be interest and request seminar could be followed by long term support to create respecting relationships between children and adults - some homework, phone coaching, follow-up seminars etc.

[redigeeri] Contributions

Merike would love to receive for her time and energy that she puts into preparing and conducting these seminars between 1000-2000 EUR for two days (from whole group) + travel & accommodation costs covered by inviting part.

If this money request is not doable for you, please contact Merike and let's find ways that work for both - for you and her!
